Abstract: Many scholars have discussed Islamic literary criticism and its theoretical foundations. However, their focus has mostly been directed toward intellectual approaches and general moral content. Other studies have addressed the Islamic theory of literature from purely ethical, ideological, or literary angles. Yet, many of them tended toward studying homiletic guidance without giving adequate attention to the modern procedural mechanisms employed within this method. Some of these readings lacked comprehensiveness and familiarity with the artistic depth crafted by the pioneers of the Moroccan and Arabic critical schools. These theses were often isolated from their stylistic and aesthetic context, or judged from a narrow perspective that reduced them into dry, direct, and traditional molds. Therefore, it is time to judge the production of these prominent figures—foremost among them Dr. Abdelhamid Bouzouina—as an integrated critical achievement that transcends a fragmented view. His work differs in form and content from superficial impressionistic and homiletic criticism, without falling into the trap of dependency on incoming Western doctrines such as structuralism, deconstruction, and others. Hence, this research comes to unveil the manifestations of the Islamic critical approach according to Bouzouina, highlighting his methodological genius in activating contemporary stylistic tools to serve the faithful and missional vision of literature.
