(UNIVERSITY CENTRE OF MAGHNIA, 2026-06-15) BAHRAOUI OUSSAMA BILAL; MEBREK MOHAMMED
Historical film adaptation has always been in the forefront of cinematography ; however, it is The elements of function and adding other narrative details to stories that have veiled many Historical truths. This research aims at unraveling the hidden parts of the Titanic catastrophe By moving beyond its popular film representation as merely a romantic story. The study adopts The semiotic theory as a methodological framework to study symbols embedded in the filmic Context, going beyond the surface-level love story. From connotation to denotation, and up toThe level of Barthian myth, the research explores how meaning is structured and constructed Within the cinematic narrative. The study investigates how both the visual and narrative signs Contribute to deeper ideological messages. The findings, then, underscore that Cameron’s Titanic (1997) was more than just a love story ; it is a film about racism, social hierarchy, and Class divisions. It is also a critique and a portrayal of the human challenging nature. Thus, this Research is about finding the real purpose of the Titanic and what is hidden as symbols, arguing That the film operates on multiple semiotic levels, from a historical event to a myth.
