Abstract

Abstract (English) This thesis examines the dialectic of love and war in the novel Jaffa by Nidal Qandus, through analyzing the tension between human emotion and the contexts of conflict. The novel highlights how love, under the conditions of war, transforms from a private intimate experience into a form of resistance and a symbol of resilience against oppression and destruction. The study seeks to reveal the representations of love in its various forms, whether emotional or patriotic, and how it intersects with scenes of war that impose their harsh logic on the characters. It also explores the impact of war on reshaping human relationships, where love becomes an act of resistance that confronts violence and strives to preserve the meaning of life amid chaos. The study concludes that the novel Jaffa presents an artistic and human vision in which love and war form an intertwined duality, where neither can be separated from the other, as each deepens the meaning of the other within the narrative structure of the novel.
