Abstract

Summary: This dissertation examines how visual perception difficulties influence the reading performance of students with dyslexia. Building on established theories of reading and dyslexia, the research investigates the effects of specific visual perception challenges, including tracking, discrimination, memory, and spatial awareness, on the decoding and comprehension abilities of dyslexic learners. Data were gathered through a structured observation checklist, a reading passage, and semi-structured interviews. The study included perspectives from dyslexic students, therapists, and psychologists, contributing to a more comprehensive understanding of the diagnosis process, intervention methods, and the collaborations between educators and families. The findings indicate that visual perception difficulties significantly impede reading development in dyslexic students, underscoring the necessity of early screening and targeted interventions.
