This dissertation presents a structured review of published empirical research on animated media and related video-supported activities for English listening and pronunciation learning. It synthesizes 14 selected publications: 13 primary empirical studies and one meta-analysis. The evidence covers animated films and short dialogue videos, captions and annotations, visual cues, speech-rate adjustments, video-based shadowing and dubbing, and caption enhancement designed to direct attention to spoken word forms. Across the included literature, results are promising but conditional. A meta-analysis reported an overall positive effect of captions on listening comprehension and vocabulary learning, while individual studies found that captions or annotations did not necessarily improve listening scores and could redirect attention away from video content. Studies of animated movies report improvements in some listening outcomes, but gains vary by proficiency and assessment task. Pronunciation-focused studies report benefits from animated videos, shadowing, dubbing, and targeted caption enhancement, although populations, designs, and measured outcomes differ substantially. Because the evidence is heterogeneous, this dissertation does not calculate a new pooled effect size and does not claim that animated media will produce the same gains for all learners. The review discusses methodological limitations, practical implications for EFL instruction, and the limited direct evidence from Algerian university settings. The existing 40-item questionnaire is retained in the annex as a draft instrument for future local primary research; it was not administered for this dissertation.
